What are thoughts on smith-wessonforum.com? Seems to be a lot of arrogance on the administrators and a ton of rules plus apparently fees for selling. Curious

I've yet to have a problem there, and have been a member for years.

Maybe they've changed the rules, but I've sold a lot of stuff there in the past w/ no fees. Moderators there frown on you pointing out to someone that they're an idiot. But there's nowhere you can get more incredibly detailed info on anything Smith-related.

That's been my experience as well. The moderators can be annoying at times, but there are quite a few knowledgable posters over there and that makes it worth it.

I like the standards thereit's all about the guns; no cop-bashing or political black-helicopter stuff is tolerated. The knowledge (and help given, if you ask) is incredible. I've found the folks there very friendly. And most of the time you can find VERY nice S&Ws in the for sale section cheaper than on say, GunBroker.

I don't post there much, but follow it daily. Pretty civil group, and a wealth of technical info. And i have bought some stuff off the classified's i was happy to get with zero problems.
It helps to have a small addiction to Smith's and sometimes painful when you see pictures of what others have collected.

+1. I have to stay away from that forum whenever I'm trying to complete a non-S&W project, just too many cool revolvers there and some great deals in the classifieds.

I walked away, the ding-a-ling population got too high for my comfort. A number of them were getting pretty arrogant with the more experienced and more senior members, and that killed it for me. Seniority doesn't really mean much, but many of the newer crowd were downright rude to people who were trying to help them.

Very good source of information on revolvers. The moderator cleans house every year or two (flushes the toilet) which brightens the place up.

I don't care for the ads on the page, but I understand the need to monetize the site.

It's a great place to find information, cool guns, old parts, and good story-telling. They have a few more rules over that way but it keeps people friendly.

It's also an expensive place to visit. A $ S&W used to be big money, then $, then $ It's a slippery slope to the pre war N frames, so just skip the in between fluff and break out your checkbook.

well having a small problem liking smiths, i have found stuff on there like stocks etc that would be difficult to find in general.
It's also an excellent source of finding out what prices are doing in various areas too.
