Maricopa County Animal Care & Control East Valley Animal Shelter's Adoption Process

We encourage you to visit our adoption locations so that you can view the animals in person and get a feel for their personality. Adoption fees range from $25 to $300 depending on the age of the pet.

Support Adoption and Rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why Should You Adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Adopt

Adopt a Pet. Improve Your Life As Well As Theirs.

Adopting a pet is an extremely rewarding decision, and we’re here to help you pick out the perfect furry family member. When you adopt a pet, not only are you adding to your family, you’re saving a life. At AHS, we believe there is someone out there for all of our furry friends, and our Ethical No-Kill Philosophy ensures no animal is ever euthanized for space of length of time in our shelter.

The Arizona Humane Society has breeds of all sizes, temperaments and energy levels. Oftentimes, dogs are already trained and housebroken, making the transition into your home an easy one. All of our pets are waiting to give you their unconditional love and introduce you to the joy of pet ownership.

How Virtual Adoptions Work

Curbside Adoptions

The Arizona Humane Society is now offering Curbside Adoptions, an innovative adoption program that offers an expedited meet-and-greet while maintaining an increased social distance from your car instead of inside of our building. This special program is available for adoptable critters and adoptable cats who do not have known ongoing medical or behavioral needs.

To schedule a Curbside Adoption appointment, please view our adoptable cats or adoptable critters and visit www.azhumane.org/schedule to book an appointment. Our Adoption Matchmakers will reach out the morning of your appointment to discuss available pets and help you decide which pet might be a good fit for your home. You will complete your adoption paperwork for your chosen pet at home before you arrive. Upon arrival, our Adoption Specialist will bring the pet out to your car, and complete payment. The appointment will last just minutes and then you’ll be off with your new furry friend! To ensure safety, all visitors entering AHS property, including buildings and parking lots, are required to wear masks at all times without exception.
